Giuseppe “Pino” Dangelico (1939-2010)
It is fine art, unlike other artistic milieu, that the brush strokes come from the heart rather than the eye, says Pino Dangelico, known in the art world as Pino.
Born in 1939, Pino realized hardship early in life. His father was a technician in a local university and life was simple but Pino entertained himself as a young artist. At 20, Pino spent 2 years studying at the University of Brera drawing and painting nudes, developing his semi-classical style.
After his father’s death in 1964, Pino became the sole provider for his family copying paintings by the Old Masters and illustrating Western Comics and children’s text books on Egyptians and Romans.
Still continuing his quest for his own style, he eventually made way to the States and was sponsored by the Borghi Gallery. He continued doing book illustrations and covers for many famous bestsellers, becoming well-known in the publishing business. In 1992, despite his commercial success, he embarked on his fine art career, sending five of his own pieces to the May Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ. where his art was well received.
His work is now sold in galleries across the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
